THE EFFECT OF 3D PRINTING TEMPERATURE ON PLA/HA/TIO2 COMPOSITE FILAMENTS

Abstract: Polylactic acid (PLA) based polymer composites containing titanium dioxide (TiO2), synthetic hydroxy apatite (HA) and natural hydroxy apatite (nHA) have been developed for biomedical applications. These extruded composite materials were printed using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). 3D printing parameters and mechanical properties were characterized. According to the tensile dimensional accuracy analysis; Maximum tensile strength (59.85 N/mm2) and maximum elongation to break (1.62 mm) were obtained from a mixture of 98% PLA, 1% nHA and 1% TiO2 at 220°C printing temperature.

SWOT ANALYSIS OF TECHNOLOGIES APPLIED FOR THERMAL TREATMENT OF MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE

Abstract: Technologies for thermal treatment of waste are essential for integrated municipal solid waste (MSW) management, not only because the potential for reduction of quantity and volume of MSW, but also because the prospective for utilization of their energy content. The selection of thermal treatment technology is a key stage in the process of strategic planning of waste management systems. Therefore, for specific waste management system it is necessary a SWOT analysis to be performed, based on evaluation of specific, concrete and clear factors for each thermal treatment technology. The aim of this study is to perform SWOT analysis, based on assessment of technological, environmental, financial and social factors for direct combustion, pyrolysis, gasification and plasma-based gasification.
