Authors: DATSUN SAMERCHUE , KUANRUETHAI TEMSAWAT , WEERAPONG KITIWONG

Abstract: In this study, two research questions “what is the level of villagers’ happiness?” and “which factors influence their happiness?” are posed. To address these two research questions, this study uses mixed-methods research approach. Field survey, interview, and questionnaire are performed to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. Final sample includes 155 people. Unlike previous studies which classified their sample according to age and sex, this study classifies its sample into six groups according to their duty of life. The six groups include grandmothers, grandfathers, mothers, fathers, daughters, and sons. It is found that grandmothers are less happy when they have to take the role of the head of the family. Going to pray at the temple only increases the mothers’ happiness. Interestingly, there is contradictory evidence of the extent to which loan influences grandparents’ happiness. Having a loan makes grandmothers happier but grandfathers less happy. On the other hand, the

Authors: LEE CHUN KWON , LEE SUNG MIN , PARK SOO KYUNG

Abstract: The identification of the potential determinants would be helpful in improving return to work (RTW) rate following injury. Two-step cluster analysis was carried out to profile pre-injury job characteristics including average monthly wage, work period, the number of employees, contract type, and working hours in the pre-injury firm. Multinomial logistic regression was conducted to examine the associations between return to work outcomes and socio-demographic, injury related, and pre-injury job characteristics. Two clusters were identified: Injured workers (n=995, 49.9%) profiled in the first cluster were more likely than those of the second cluster (n=998, 50.1%) t

Data were analyzed by SPSS 22.0, and binary logistic regression was conducted to test research model. Analyzed by population sociological, health, economic and institutional factors, the elderly’s job retention was affected by gender, age, academic background, period of the partner’s existence, depression, gross income of household, total assets of household, period of receiving national basic livelihood guarantees, period of receiving national pension. 9. THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN COGNITIVE-MOTIVATIONAL FACTORS OF USERS OF SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES (SNSS)

Authors: EUGENE KACIAK

Abstract: The objective of this pilot study was to apply the hard laddering technique [1], [2], embedded in means-end chain (MEC) theory [3], to understand why users utilize the various features and functionalities of social networking sites (SNSs). A convenience sample of 72 SNSs users in Brazil took part in the study. The study focused on Facebook as it is one of the primary means of social networking in this developing country. MEC theory has been developed in order to understand how consumers link attributes (A) of products with particular consequences (C), and how these consequences satisfy their personal values (V). The associations in the mind of the consumer between A’s, C’s, and V’s are labeled means-end chains. They are often seen as a representation of the basic drive that motivates consumer behaviour, for they link attributes of a product (such as Facebook), through the consequences (e.g., to Facebook users) stemming from these attributes, and, ultimately, to the personal values (e.g

10. PROCESS-BASED FUZZY RISK ASSESSMENT: A CASE STUDY OF A STEEL SERVICE CENTER

Authors: ASLI CEBECI , BERAT ELALDI , SEBIHA KURT , TULAY KORKUSUZPOLAT

Abstract: It is important to provide a competitive advantage by creating a difference and to be able to maintain this advantage in the business world, where change is inevitable. That’s why adapting to changes easily, providing the efficient use of resources, offering new products and services, determining opportunities for improvement and fulfilling the conditions for productivity have become more important for firms day by day. To attain these objectives, the processes should be managed systematically. In this way, firms can more clearly determine those fields which are open to improvement by monitoring the performances of the processes. One of the most important auxiliaries in providing this systematic quality of process management is risk management. Since any factor to negatively affect the performance of a process can be defined as a risk, the risks specified in a process-based fashion will enable the processes to work better as a support for determining those parts in which a process does

Authors: FASIHA KIRAN , NAIMAT U. KHAN

Abstract: This paper analyzes herding behavior on the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) for a sample of 200 firms over a period of 10 years from 2004 to 2014 using two different methodologies presented by Christie and Huang (1995) and Chang et al. One of the contributions of this paper is to explore herding behavior not only on aggregate data of 200 firms but also on the basis of individual company as well. This study shows mixed results of herding based for the two methods employed in the research. Using the index data, the results on the basis of Christie and Huang (2004) method indicate presence of herding in the stock market while the results of Chang et al. (2000) method show an absence of herding behavior. However, individual company shows the existence of herding behavior; it refers that company follow each other during investment process.
