1. INVESTIGATION OF SERVICE STRESS IN MEDIUM RISE BUILDING DESIGN IN SRI LANKA ACCORDING TO SELECTED DESIGN CODES

Authors: K. KAJEENTHAN , M. VIGNARAJAH

Abstract: This paper presents the study of service stress appear in various structural elements in the design of medium rise reinforced concrete building in Sri Lanka using selected codes. Five structural design codes have been considered for the study. Namely EN1992:2004, BS8110:1985, IS456:2000, AS3600-2009 and ACI318-2014. Comparisons of the provisions for actions, and for the resistance of sections in flexural and axial loading are carried out. The differences in the service stress in respective designs have been estimated and reported

Abstract: Iraq suffers from shortage in water resources due to the increase of population and the extension of agriculture lands and studies have shown that the deficit will reach 73% in 2025. The main water resources in Iraq is the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, which provide more than 98% of Iraqs water demands for the various purposes. Since 1970, Syria and Turkey began building dams on the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, causing reduction in the flow of rivers into Iraq. Such a problem may be overcome by increasing nonconventional water resources such as reuse of treated wastewater in irrigation. The treated wastewater is preferred to be used in agriculture, where 75% of water consumption. Therefore, the current study focuses on safe reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture to cover the shortage water resources in Iraq.In order to reach the safe use of sewage water, a case study of the Russtmiya wastewater treatment plant in Baghdad has to be chosen according to the guidelines and laws for futu

Abstract: This work focus on the synthesis of a NaA zeolite from oil palm ash and coal bottom ash and the CEC assessment of synthesized products. Zeolite synthesis was carried out at three alkaline salts (NaOH, KOH, Ca(OH)2) and three time levels (1, 3 and 5 hours)at the temperature of 105 oC and two concentration of base concentration (1 and 3 M). Consequently, Zeolite NaA was produced from coal bottom ash with a good calcium exchange capacity (CEC) was used as sulfate, hardness, ammonia and phosphate adsorbent. The coal bottom ash and aluminium hydroxide sludge were sources of starting materials for Na-A zeolite (4A zeolite) conversion using the fusion prior alkali hydrothermal process. The coal bottom ash and NaOH were mixed at the weight ratio of 1:1.2 and 1:1:3 and then fused at 700 oC for 1 hour prior to the hydrothermal treatment. Sodium hydroxide solution of 3 M was added to the fused material and thoroughly stirred at 105± 3 oC in the stainless steel reactor. The reaction time was vari

Abstract: The aim of this work is to synthesis zeolite by using coal bottom ash from power plant and used as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) adsorbent to removal H2S from synthetic biogas. The zeolite was synthesized by fusion hydrothermal process of coal bottom ash, which was source of starting materials. Moreover, the obtained zeolite products were used for preparation of polyethylene composite material by using twin-screw extrusion process, polyethylene grafted maleic anhydride (PE-g-MA) as compatibilizer at various PE-g-MA: zeolite ratio (0.5:1, 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1, respectively) and different composition of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) (0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.5 and 2 phr). The results showed that the optimum condition for composite material as PEg- MA: zeolite ratio of 2:1 exhibited the highest adsorption capacity. Moreover, the equilibrium time and adsorption capacity at equilibrium increased with increasing the TiO2 loading. The results suggested that the polyethylene composite material filled with zeolite

5. THE INDICATORS DETERMINATION OF CONTRACTORS IN THE PROCUREMENT PROCESS OF ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Authors: IRWAN LIE KENG WONG , LATUPEIRISSA JOSEFINE ERNESTINE

Abstract: Procurement of goods and services aims, among others, to produce goods and services that are appropriate for every money spent, measured in terms of quality, quantity, time, cost, location and provision. The success of the procurement of goods and services in the supply chain vertical structure will have an impact on the procurement of services in a horizontal structure, namely the determination of service providers or contractors. Based on this, a study was carried out aimed at analyzing the Indicators of Determination of Contractors in the Procurement Process of Road and Bridge Construction Projects. Determination of the contractor as the winner of the tender was carried out by the organization of the vertical supply chain pattern procurement of road and bridge construction projects. Data collection was conducted in three provinces in the eastern part of Indonesia in the form of primary data, namely direct observation and filling in questionnaires and interviews with 30 respondents.
