1. ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING SYSTEM GLOBAL AND MALAYSIAN PERSPECTIVE

Authors: AHMAD SALEH SHATAT , ZULKIFLI MOHAMED UDIN

Abstract: Business management has entered the era of networking competition. This has moved the competition from a local to that of global business environments and from company against company to that of a supply chain against supply chain. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system has become one of the main pre-requisites for many companies enabling them to compete in the local and global market, a price of entry to gain a competitive advantage in the global economy, and a backbone for e-business as well as for the whole supply chain. Many companies are still reluctant to implement ERP system and therefore they will not be able to connect their supply chain with several global and local companies where ERP system has become a prerequisite and a price of entry for the global economy. This study has investigated the main issues, challenges and the benefits of ERP system. ERP systems will be the price of entry and a prerequisite for many companies enabling them to run their business smoothly and

2. ITERATION FREE FRACTAL COMPRESSION USING SIMULATED ANNEALING FOR STILL COLOUR IMAGES

Authors: A R NADIRA BANU KAMAL

Abstract: An iteration-free fractal coding for still colour image compression is proposed using simulated annealing. As the proposed method uses the synthetic code book, it reduces the coding process time and minimizes intensive computations. The proposed technique utilizes the SA, which greatly decreases the search complexity of matching between range block and domain block. Parameters such as image quality, compression ratio and coding time are analyzed. It is observed that the proposed method achieves excellent performance in image quality with very low bit rate.

3. FACIAL IMAGE RETRIEVAL BASED ON EIGENFACES AND SEMANTIC FEATURES

Authors: AHMED ABDU ALATTAB , SAMEEM ABDUL KAREEM

Abstract: In this research, we develop a facial image retrieval computational model for the problem of facial images retrieval by integrating content-based image retrieval (CBIR) techniques and face recognition techniques(FERET), with the verbal description of the semantic features of the facial image. Eigenfaces is applied to extract the characteristic feature images of the human face images. One hundred participant participated to choose, order and annotate the semantic features of the human face based on the importance of each features to differentiate between human faces. During the retrieval process system use the specific semantic features, of the face that is user looking for, to narrow down the search space. Eigenfaces is then projected onto the narrowed down human faces search space to identify and retrieve the similar faces to the query face from the database. Euclidean distance is used for classification purpose. The database that is used consists of 1500 local facial images database

5. SPEAKER VERIFICATION SYSTEM USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK : MLP

Authors: ALI MOHAMMED BEN RAMADAN

Abstract: In a world where authentication and privacy are taking a lot of our daily efforts, it is becoming more important for us to prove our identity to different systems every day so that we can access required and useful services by speaker verification system. Speaker verification (Is the speaker who we think he or she is?). In addition, speaker verification can be closed-set (The speaker is always one of a closed set used for training.) or open-set (Speaker from outside the training set may be examined.). Also, each variant may be implement as text-dependent (The speaker must utter one of a closed set of words.) or text-independent (The speaker may utter any type of speech). In this project we explore the ability of a multilayer perceptron (MLP) to perform text-dependent speaker verification. Our networks are trained on sets of acoustical parameters extracted form samples obtained from a closed set of speakers uttering a set of known words. Our primary feature extraction tools are Mel Freq

6. ENHANCED INCREMENTAL BI-DIRECTIONAL PRINCIPAL COMPONENT ANALYSIS WITH FORGETTING FACTORS

Authors: CHIEN SHING OOI , KAH PHOOI SENG , LI-MINN ANG

Abstract: Feature extraction plays an important role in face recognition system as it can reduce dimensions and reserve the most significant features which need to be classified and recognized. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) has been one of the popular techniques that used in pattern recognition related research areas. Researches have been also carried out to improve the performance of this technique, mainly based on tensor type and incremental type. Incremental Bi-Directional Principal Component Analysis (IBDPCA) is one of the latest improved versions of PCA which combined the merits from tensor and incremental type. However, IBDPCA lacks of the moderations between the latest and previous data when updating the means. This can leads to difficulty in evaluating the data accurately due to larger size of previous data, and also more memory waste. This paper proposed a technique which overcomes the limitations by adopting the IBDPCA with forgetting factors, in order to down-weight the previous

7. VIRTUAL WEB CONTENTS (VWC) FOR PERSONALIZED PRESENTATION

Authors: IMRAN GHANI , ISRAR GHANI , M. IRFAN KHAN , SEUNG RYUL JEONG

Abstract: This paper aims to equip the next generation of Web users with the idea of personalized presentation of Web contents by substituting some of the real Web contents with the `Virtual Web Contents' (VWC). In order to realize this idea, we introduce a novel concept of Personal Conceptual Dictionary (PCD). The PCD is an ontology-based dictionary of a collection of user-defined concepts that is utilized to create a new personalized layer of VWC residing between the real web contents and the end-user. Hence, the end-users rather than interacting with all the real contents, may also interact with some of the `Virtual Web Contents' creating an exciting environment making their data visualization more personal and browsing more flexible. Our hypothesis is that by integrating VWC with real Web contents, the Web of future will not just work different but also provides more personalized and pleasant experience to its users. We present some interesting results obtained from the initial implementatio

8. TIME DELAY ANALYSIS IN NETWORKED CONTROL SYSTEM BASED CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK

Authors: ABDUL RASHID HUSAIN , AMIRA SARAYATI AHMAD DAHALAN , MOHD BADRIL NOR SHAH , MUHAMMAD IQBAL ZAKARIA

Abstract: The uses of data network in a control loop have gained increasing attentions in recent years due to cost effective and flexible applications. But, still the major challenges in this networked control system (NCS) are the delay of the data transmission throughout the communication network. Therefore, this paper presents an analysis of the time delay in NCS and also the development of the NCS platform based on well known communication networks, which is, Controller Area Network (CAN).

Abstract: Data mining is a growing area of research that intersects with many disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), databases, statistics, visualization, and high-performance and parallel computing. The goal of data mining is to turn data that are facts, numbers, or text which can be processed by a computer into knowledge. Nowadays, the reliance of health care on data is increasing. Therefore, this paper aims to allow the readers to understand about data mining and its importance in medical systems.
