1. CHARACTERIZATION OF SPECTRUM MOBILITY AND CHANNEL AVAILABILITY IN CRMANETS

Abstract: In cognitive radio (CR), CR users or also known as secondary users (SUs) are considered as “visitors” to the licensed spectrum. During the case when the primary user claims the band of the spectrum that is occupied by the SU, the SU\'s ongoing call must be transferred to another unused spectrum band. The variation in spectrum band is called spectrum mobility. In this paper, we investigate an analytical model to show the effect of different event on channel availability and spectrum mobility in mobile cognitive radio Ad hoc networks (CR-MANET), along with emphasize on those factors and types of mobility, which necessitate comprehensive mobility and handoff management in CR-MANETs.

2. MODIFIED EDCA APPROACH TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF SERVICE IN WLAN

Abstract: In this paper, we have proposed modified Enhanced Distributed Coordination Access (EDCA) in order to improve Quality of Service in Wireless LAN. In this approach, we have changed the Contention Window (CW) for back off procedure and method for calculation of Arbitration Inter Frame Spacing (AIFS). The proposed approach is implemented in Quadlet 5.2 Simulator and compared the results with conventional EDCA. The simulation shows that Modified EDCA produces less average jitter, less average end to end delay and improvements in throughput as compared to conventional EDCA mechanism.

3. EVALUATION OF TOPOLOGY EFFECTS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF MOTORWAY SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM

Abstract: Wireless networking is an emerging technology that allows users to access information and services electronically, regardless of their geographic position. Applications for the use of wireless networking have become increasingly popular and more sophisticated. One of the most important applications based on the use of wireless networks is for motorway surveillance. In a wireless Motorway Surveillance System (MSS), a series of cameras capable of transmitting images wirelessly are placed along a roadway. In an `infrastructure-less' MSS, one important consideration is the placement of the cameras in a specific topology. Topology imposes several constraints on the amount of data of images that can be transmitted through the network, which leads to effects on the network's overall performance. 4. RESOURCE ALLOCATION IN LTE – BASED WIRELESS NETWORKS

Abstract: In this paper, resource allocation for heterogeneous downlink is studied in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems unicasting by multiple base stations (BSs). First, this paper formulates the resource allocation problem which is designed to maximize the sum rate of non-real time transmission while satisfying the quality-of-service (QoS) requirement of both the real time and non-real time transmission. In the considered scenario, each user is restricted to being covered by one BS, while each subcarrier is assigned to at most one user. Furthermore, due to frequency reuse in long term evolution (LTE) lead to unacceptable interference levels experienced by user equipment that is very far from its serving BS in a multi-cellular system. The herein proposed dynamic fractional frequency reuse scheme is a step forward towards effective inter-cell interference coordination in wireless networks.
