3. AN ANALYSIS OF CO2 EMISSIONS, ENERGY CONSUMPTION, ECONOMIC GROWTH AND FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN THAILAND

Authors: MATHAVEE KEORITE , OLUWASOLA E. OMOJU

Abstract: The aim of this study is to understand the relationship between CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions, energy consumption, economic growth and FDI (foreign direct investment) in Thailand during the period from 1988 to 2014. This study use cointegration and Granger causality to examine the relationship between the variables. The results confirm the existence of long-run equilibrium among all four variables. Meanwhile, energy consumption and FDI positively influence CO2 emissions. Moreover, square of economic growth has negative impact on CO2 emissions in Thailand. The results also reveal that there are two way causalities between CO2 emissions and energy consumption in Thailand. Given the result that square of economic growth has negative impact on CO2, these findings support the EKC(Environmental Kuznets Curve) hypothesis which assumes an inverted U-shaped relationship between CO2 emissions and economic growth in Thailand. In addition, energy consumption is found to Granger cause CO2 emission

Abstract: Leadership in Muslim cultures is underrepresented and relevant research is called for as a top priority area by scholars [1]. We introduce two new concepts from an Islamic perspective, to the field of spiritual leadership as an extension of Fry’s SLT model--- the connectedness to the Supreme-Being and spiritual motivation. The connectedness to the Supreme-Being is trans-personal connectedness to God or the higher power as an essential part of workplace spirituality in the Islamic society. Spiritual motivation is feelings as means of ascent to draw closer to God towards commendable rank. Spiritual motivation consists of sense of hope and sense of awe – two dimensions of intrinsic motivation from Islamic perspective. Results significantly support all research constructs and research hypotheses. Follower’s motivations – in this case the spiritual survival and spiritual motivation – mediate the relationship between spiritual leadership and organizational citizenship behavior. Most importan

Authors: WAI KIN LAU , YUNG YAU

Abstract: Inclusive built environment is conducive to full participation of persons with disabilities (PwDs) and their enjoyment of equal opportunities. Nonetheless, built environment that is designed and constructed as accessible is not enough because poor management may render a built facility inaccessible or non-inclusive to PwDs. Disability awareness of the property management industry is thus essential for achieving an inclusive built environment for a society. This research aims to investigate the current state of provision of disability awareness training to employees by the property management companies in Hong Kong. With the findings of a structured questionnaire survey and two in-depth interviews, the research reveals that the provision of disability awareness training remains at a low level. Besides, local property management companies are not prepared for disability inclusion in their premises. Recommendations then follow.
