Authors: BRAHIM BOUHADIBA , ISLAM HADJ MOHAMED GUETARNI , NASSIMA AISSANI

Abstract: The scrap metal factories are complex systems that play a crucial role in the transformation industry and construction. Since these factories face various safety issues in design, installation, operation, transportation and maintenance processes, there are many aspects open for improvement in Occupational Health and Safety risk assessment and it is required to deal with risks, reduce them to an acceptable level and control. To struggle with emerging risks and manage this process better, a risk assessment framework is proposed in this study. A case study is performed in an Algerian scrap metal company using the proposed framework. It is based on historical accident data exploitation using Bayesian Inference after a deep treatment. Results are recommendation which should improve the worker safety

Authors: LI LI

Abstract: This paper studies the impact of corruption on economic growth in ASEAN countries over the period of 1999- 2019. Ten ASEAN countries are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore. The economic growth is measured by annual percentage growth rate of a country's gross domestic product and annual percentage growth rate of per capita gross domestic product. The corruption is measured by the corruption perception index published by Transparency International. The regression results show that corruption has a positive impact on economic growth for countries with high level of corruption, whereas corruption has no impact on economic growth for countries with low or medium level of corruption. For control variables, foreign direct investment is found to have a positive impact on countries with high level of corruption and government expenditure is found to have a negative impact on economic growth f

7. BIODIESEL SYNTHESIS USING HETEROGENEOUS CATALYST-DOLOMITE

Authors: IEVA GAIDE , VIOLETA MAKAREVICIEN

Abstract: As environmental pollution increases due to greenhouse gas emissions the use of fuels obtained from renewable energy sources gain more interest. The majority of studies globally are related to the improvement of conventional biofuel production technologies by applying transesterification process of oil using alcohol and catalyst. Some of the more recent methods to produce biodiesel are based on heterogeneous catalysis, which has the advantage of easy separation of catalyst from the final product. Dolomite is a natural mineral rich in calcium compounds which can be converted to calcium oxide (CaO) which is known as a good catalyst used in heterogeneous biodiesel synthesis. In the present work, we investigated optimum conditions for biodiesel synthesis from rapeseed oil and methanol using dolomite as a heterogeneous catalyst. Firstly optimum conditions for dolomite preparation was studied. Optimum dolomite fraction size was obtained 0.315'0.1 mm and calcination temperature 850 °C was use

8. RECYCLING POTENTIAL OF LIMESTONE CUTTING WASTES IN WEST BANK, PALESTINE

Authors: MITSUO YOSHIDA , Suleiman Abu Mfarreh

Abstract: Cretaceous limestones are distributed almost all over the West Bank, Palestine, and these limestones are mined and widely used as stone materials for constructing local buildings and infrastructure. Moreover, the stone materials are exported surrounding countries as construction materials, which is one of the most abundant non-renewable natural resources in Palestine. A large amount of stone cutting waste and slurry are generated during the stone manufacturing process, but at present, these stone cutting waste and slurry are randomly dumped without being treated. However, if the generated limestone waste is properly sorted and treated, it can be recycled as concrete aggregate and/or other industrial commodities. In addition, it can be recycled as cement clinker, mortar plaster, and civil/agricultural use of quicklime. For sustainable development of Palestine, the stone resource is expected to be effectively and efficiently recycled

9. THE NEED FOR NEW SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURES FOR NEXT-GENERATION VEHICLES

Authors: MARKUS KUCERA , THOMAS WAAS , CRISTINA ALONSO-VILLA, , JOHANNES BUTTNER , PERE BOHIGAS BOLADERAS,

Abstract: Assuming that future connected cars with auto mated driving functions will require even more computing power and communication bandwidth, the current network infrastructure as well as the existing individualized control units are not a profitable option for such vehicles. In addition, changing user expectations demand flexible architectural patterns and upgradeability of software components without the need to visit the workshop. However, the current statically developed and configured ECU architecture does not offer any practicable possibilities for this. For these reasons, the research for a new dynamic and flexible architecture is necessary. This new type of system architecture is expected to meet future requirements in terms of space, cost, performance, energy efficiency and number of required computing units in the vehicle, which will arise as a result of the implementation/inclusion of new automated driving functionalities, and due to the changes in user expectations. 10. REUSE OF TREATED WASTEWATER FOR IRRIGATION AND ITS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS

Authors: Ajay Singh

Abstract: The global population is rising steadily and is likely to touch a level of 9.8 billion in 2050 from the existing over 7.6 billion. The quick ascent in the population has expanded the urbanization which results in the production of a huge amount of wastewater. The SDG6 of the United Nations pushes the reuse of treated wastewater to 'ensure the availability of water for all'. The use of treated wastewater for crop irrigation is a feasible option as the agriculture sector is the largest user of freshwater sources and uses over 70% of all water resources. The utilization of wastewater for crop irrigation is a common practice throughout the world. Essentially, the utilization of wastewater for irrigation is viewed as an approach to deal with the disparity between water availability and water requirement. It is particularly practiced in the arid and semiarid areas that are facing the large water scarcities. Wastewater contains basic plant supplements that enhance crop production and simultan

Authors: AHMED BADR EL-DI , YOUSRY B.I. SHAHEEN , ZEINAB A. ETMAN

Abstract: This paper presents a new box girder reinforced with various types of metallic and non-metallic mesh reinforcement materials. The main objective of the current research is to estimate the structural behaviour of thin ferrocement box bridges reinforced with composite material. Experimental investigation has been carried out on nine girders. The dimensions of the girder were 2000 mm length, 500 mm width and 350 mm thickness but with various layers numbers made from different mesh types. Cracking patterns, tensile and compressive strains, deformation characteristics, ductility ratio, and energy absorption properties were observed and measured at all stages of loadings. Experimental results were then compared to analytical models using (ABAQUS/Explicit) programs. The results showed that the type of reinforcement affects the ductility ratio, ultimate strength and energy absorption properties of the proposed girders. The study also revealed that the expanded metal mesh and welded steel mesh
