1. DOCTORAL STUDIES IN INDIVIDUAL POINT OF VIEW -MIXING THE MACRO AND THE MICRO LEVELS IN EVERYDAY LIFE IN FINLAND

Authors: MAUNULA MINNA

Abstract: This article is based on my doctoral thesis research in Education. The subject of this study was the under 40-year-old female doctoral students with a family. The objective was to understand the experiental stages of lifecourse of the female doctoral students with a family through their stories. In the study chronological and lifecourse continuity are emphasized: past, present and future. The examination is performed mainly from the points of view of a family and of doctoral studies. The family and doctoral studies are placed in both the macro and the micro level when examined with regards to lifecourse; in them the public and the individual meet. How advantageous it is for the female doctoral student with a family to understand the stages and consequences of the process of gaining a doctoral degree, in both the wider and in the individual context?.

2. NATURAL GAS AS A SOURCE OF ENERGY

Authors: DELIGEORGIOU GEORGIOS , KONSTANTINOS GOUNARIS

Abstract: Natural gas is found in abundance in many regions of the world, in quantities that ensure energy sufficiency for human activities for 250 years or so, based on current estimates. In the global energy industry’s turnover in 2011 natural gas participated in a proportion of about 21% ranking just after oil and coal, as the third largest energy source [1]. In financial figures, that translates to hundreds of billions of U.S. dollars per year [2]. This paper will analyze the elements of that fuel demonstrate its importance as a source of energy and assess the perspective of its contribution to meeting energy needs in the future. The methodology includes the description of natural gas, its origin, probable stocks and their geographical distribution, the procedures of extraction, its use, comparison with other energy sources, prospects of exploitation of new deposits and modes of transport from point production to the place of consumption.

3. MODELING MULTIDIMENSIONAL INEQUALITY IN WELL-BEING: THE CASE OF SPAIN

Authors: JOSE MARIA SARABIA , VANESA JORDA

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to assess the evolution of multidimensional inequality in well-being using Lorenz curves. Closed expressions for the bivariate Lorenz curve defined by Arnold (1983) are given. We assume a relevant type of models based on the class of distributions with given marginals described by Sarmanov and Lee (Lee, 1996; Sarmanov, 1966). This specification of the bivariate Lorenz curve can be easily interpreted as a convex linear combination of products of classical and concentrated Lorenz curves (Sarabia and Jordá, 2014). Using this methodology, we present a closed expression for the bivariate Gini index (Arnold, 1987) in terms of the classical and concentrated Gini indices of the marginal distributions, which are modeled using a convenient model. This index is especially useful and can be decomposed in two factors, corresponding to inequality within variables and the degree of correlation between dimensions (Sarabia and Jordá, 2014). Finally, we illustrate all the previo

4. TSUNAMI WAVES IN THE HELLENIC AREA THE MALIAN GULF SITUATION

Authors: DELIGEORGIOU GEORGIOS , STEFOU THEODOROS

Abstract: Marine Gravity Waves (tsunamis) are a secondary geodynamic phenomenon caused mainly after large undersea earthquakes and characterized by a series of huge, gigantic waves. However, this phenomenon may also be caused by a number of other causes such as a volcanic eruption, an undersea landslide, even a nuclear weapon testing explosion and extraterrestrial causes (meteorites or asteroids). Due to the low appearance frequency, the risk of a potential disaster a tsunami can cause is often underestimated. The aim of this paper is the study of tsunami waves in Greece and particularly in Maliakos (or Malian) Gulf. The study of tsunamis allows a better understanding of their importance as natural phenomena and the effects that they can cause at the coastal zone. The results of the research show that the area has been hit by a forceful tsunami at least once in the past, according to historical data and analyses of samples from the area, and due to the seismicity of the entire Hellenic area, the

Authors: STEFOU THEODOROS , KARAGEORGOU ELISSAVET

Abstract: During 2010, within the frame of Lifelong Learning, 57 Second Chance Schools [SCSs] operated across Greece, with over 800 teachers who educated almost 5800 adult students on Greek and English language, mathematics, environmental, it, social, aesthetic studies, technology and physics, and provided, in addition, career and vocational counselling. The present study examines Greek SCS students’ views about their educator as a leader during project carrying-out. Six hundred and seventy seven students from twenty four SCSs across Greece provided relevant information by filling in a corresponding number of questionnaires witheighteen close-ended questions. Data elaboration and statistical analysis was performed. Factor analysis was used to pinpoint five main factors relevant to students’ views regarding the leading role of their educator during project carrying-out. The results of the study showed that Greek SCS students highly believe that their leader has a guiding role, that s/he also inte

Authors: SAADAN MAN

Abstract: The exercise of ijtihad (independent reasoning by qualified jurist) has been a siginificant process in the development of Islamic Law as witnessed throughout the history of Muslim society. Ijtihad has always been an important tool and source for Muslims to find Islamic rulings on various current and newcoming issues which they found no direct answers both in the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad’s traditions. 8. TRUSTEESHIP OF AN ENDOWMENT IN ISLAMIC LAW: THEORY AND PRACTICE

Authors: LUQMAN HAJI ABDULLAH

Abstract: Endowment in Islamic Law known as waqf or habs. In classical Islamic law, the jurists defined waqf as to devote the property in charity or family benefits in which the power of administration of the property is at the hand of the appointed administrator known in the law as nazir or mutawalli or in modern legal term known as trustee. Based on some prophetic injunctions the classical jurists developed significantly the roles of the trustee, his rights and responsibilities. It is admitted that there are very few prophetic injunctions that can be traced back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad but the classical jurists by virtue of their intellectual capacity have come out with rulings and interpretations in matters relating to the office of trustee. In Malaysia the law has provided that the trusteeship of the Muslims endowments vested in the hand of the state government which is parked under State Islamic Religious Council (SIRC). They are considered by law as the sole trustee of all the

Authors: CONSIGLIA BOTTA , FRANCESCO ROMANO , FEDERICO MARIA BALLETTA , ROBERTO BALLETTA

Abstract: The SME sector in Italy was hit hard by the global recession of 2008-09, as the whole Italian economy which hasn’t yet recovered the 2008 level of GDP. Small enterprises, which constitute the vast majority of Italian companies, were more affected than medium and large-sized companies. For facing that situation Italian government issued some provisions to improve the general framework conditions for Italian SMEs (Small and Medium enterprises), making administration more responsive to the needs of businesses and improving policies for companies which want aggregate and internationalize theirs activities. Nevertheless, the country’s overall performance of SMEs continues to be below the EU average in terms of exporting internationally and the single market, and access to finance. To cope with this problem Italian legislator has introduced amendments to the law on bonds and financing bills with the aim of facilitating access to direct financing for unlisted companies, especially for SMEs. Authors: LAMYAA ELBASSITI , MARIA EL HAIBA , RACHIDA AJHOUN

Abstract: In an environment where social, technological and economic changes improve fast, companies must be creative and innovative on a sustainable and regular basis to ensure their growth and maintain a competitive advantage. In order to meet those requirements, companies are brought to adapt and rethink their operating and business models. Therefore, Enterprise 2.0 had been established as a new organizational model where web 2.0 tools, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective intelligence are levers of agility, productivity, performance and value creation. The transition toward this new model requires necessarily in our view a deep change in three fundamental aspects which are the technological, organizational and social aspect. To achieve this objective, we have highlighted some of good practices inspired from typical enterprises that have succeeded to adopt this new model.

Authors: ANNA SAITI , SOPHIA PROVATARI

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to investigate, through empirical analysis, a) whether or not undergraduate students have any entrepreneurial intentions, based on their psychological characteristics such as locus of control, etc. and b) whether or not these psychological characteristics have any impact on their entrepreneurial intentions. For this purpose, anonymous questionnaires were administered to undergraduate students in the third and final year in higher education institutions in the Athens area. Statistical tools were employed in order to analyse the collective data. Results indicated that in general Greek undergraduate students were not risk-takers while they had little inclination towards entrepreneurship. Moreover, Greek undergraduate students have shown a positive locus of control, good self confidence and an aptitude for innovation while they have not shown high levels of tolerance to ambiguity Taking into consideration that a) the economic development and the competitive adv
