1. THE EXEGESIS OF THE QURAN THROUGH THE MEANS OF AL-ISYARAH: A CRITICAL EVALUATION

Authors: RUSHDI RAMLI

Abstract: Since the early days of Islam till present day Muslim scholars have given great emphasis on the science of Quranic exegesis [`ilm al-tafsir]. Their enthusiasm and dedication is proven by the great number of authentic works on the subject. What is also evident is the various methods and approaches that were implemented in their quest for understanding the Quran. Among the methods used is what is known as tafsir bi al-isyarah [the interpretation of the Quran through the means al-isyarah]. Although not all Muslim scholars acknowledge the validity of this method of al-isyarah, it had been used by a handful of authoritative scholars in defining the meaning of the Quran. These works are still in existence today. This paper discusses the value and the validity of this mode of interpreting the Quran and the extent of its relevancy nowadays.

Abstract: The first attempt of this study is to investigate teacher efficacy construct. In so doing, this study tries to develop the extent to which the conceptualized teacher measure reproduces the data. Second, this study evaluates the adequacy of the teacher efficacy measure across teacher’s place of graduation. The data were collected from adopted version of Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale administered to 252 teachers of National Religious Secondary School in Malaysia. The results of confirmatory factor analysis supported the adequacy of teacher efficacy measure and found that teacher is a multidimensional construct with four underlying dimensions. The model also found to be applicable across teacher’s place of graduation

3. ONLINE COMMUNICATION IN DIFFERENT CULTURAL SETTINGS A COMPARISON BETWEEN AUSTRIAN AND THAI CONSUMERS

Authors: AGNIESZKA ZABLOCKI , BODO SCHLEGELMILCH , MICHAEL HOUSTON

Abstract: Research shows that consumers share different content in online and offline settings. In offline settings, consumers tend to communicate primarily rational content with strangers and emotional content with people they know. In addition, previous findings indicate that consumers in collectivistic cultures (interdependent self-construal) display more emotional content than consumers in individualistic cultures (independent self-construal). Our results reveal considerable differences between online and offline content of communications and differences according to the self-construal of Austrian and Thai consumers. Out of this, theoretical and managerial implications emerge. Conference Title : Third International Conference on Advances in Management, Economics and Social Science - MES 2015

4. SUSTAINABILITY IN ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH OUTCOME AND CURRENT PRACTICE

Authors: KARL PRAMMER , TUNDE ERDOS

Abstract: Since the publishing of what has become to be known as the ‘Brundtland-Report’ in 1987 the term sustainability has been used in various ways. However, there is almost no relevant literature that would explicitly exhort the concept of sustainability in the context of Organization Development (OD) itself. The paper attempts to sketch sustainability in the organizational field as a contingent matter. In effect, in capturing potential aspects of sustainability that might be ‘in the room’ and in dialoguing about the relevance thereof for an OD endeavor we deem it to be primordial to give a voice to both the existing environments and those that might possibly arise in the future. Additionally, it proves essential to establish some sort of transition organization which is predestined to encompass all the sustainability aspects identified as relevant and to follow up on those aspects in a room free from taboos in what we refer to as a cyclical, recursive and reflexive process. Such an approach

5. INCREASING PARTICIPATION OF SUBSAHARAN AFRICAN ENTREPRENEURS IN CAPITAL MARKETS – A STUDY OF GHANA

Authors: ANTHONY Q. Q. ABOAGYE

Abstract: Well-functioning stock exchanges have been linked to economic growth in many parts of the world. However, in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) listed companies and stock exchange activities reflect very little of country economic activities and economic output remains low. Research that has focused on unravelling constraints hampering the development of stock exchanges has been mostly aimed at identifying and removing transactional bottlenecks – trading systems, liquidity, institutions, and market integration. This study, conceived of as a fore-runner of the study of other SSA economies, identifies a new perspective on how to strategize for more companies in SSA to access the capital markets. Responses from World Values Survey type questionnaire were analyzed. Regression results suggest that variables that explain the proportion of own businesses that respondents will sell to the public to access capital markets relate to the values of the people, (trust), and the business environment. 6. THE TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE MODEL: AN ECOMMERCE EXTENSION

Authors: ANTHONY Q. Q. ABOAGYE , DAVID PAPER

Abstract: Electronic-commerce has gained a great importance as a medium for conducting business. Researchers and market executives alike are still studying online consumer behavior with the purpose of better understanding it. One model widely used for understanding technology adoption in general is the technology acceptance model (TAM). In this study, we develop and test an Ecommerce specific extension of the TAM. Two predictor variables are added to the original TAM, namely, process satisfaction, and outcome satisfaction. In addition, the TAM is extended by measuring actual behavior, in contrast to previous TAM application studies that measured intentions as a substitute for actual behavior. We measured actual use variable in terms of four criterion variables, namely, purchase, access number, access total time, and access average time. The extended TAM proved to better fit Ecommerce environments by better explaining actual behavior than the original TAM.

Authors: TATIANA KARKOSZKA

Abstract: Realization of the operational aims of the organization, planned within the range of the integrated quality, environmental and occupational safety management system, very often remains unintegrated, which in turn creates the necessity for searching the new solutions ensuring the real integration, which has been confirmed by the literature review and the initial analyses. The originality of the study is due to the authorial method of the integrated assessment of the process, which enables pointing its key operational criteria by valuing the difficulty of realization as well as valuing the integrated risk for each of the operational criterion. The developed methodology has been applied in the organization being in possession of the implemented integrated management system, however, describing the operational level of this system as the unintegrated one. 10. E-COMMERCE EXTENDED TAM INSTRUMENT DEVELOPMENT

Authors: DAVID PAPER , RIMA FAYAD

Abstract: E-commerce proved its importance as a reliable and viable channel of conducting business and consumer transactions. Researchers suggest the application and extension of the technology acceptance model (TAM) in different business and IS environements. In E-commerce, the TAM has been applied both in its original form and as an extended model in order to better understand online consumer behavior. However the instruments used did not include items that were balanced between the proess and the outcome of the onine shopping behavior. In this study, we develop and test instruments for an E-commerce specific extended TAM. These instrumets balance between items measuring procees satisfaction and outcome satisfaction, in addition to the original TAM constructs, namely perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The study instruments proved to have reliability, convergent, discriminant and factorial validity.

Authors: ELENA SIMINA LAKATOS , LAURA BACALI , OANA BIANCA BERCEA , ALINA MOLDOVAN

Abstract: Innovation in its both forms – open and closed - is essential for economic growth and it is associated both with processes and organizations and likewise, with social and institutional change. Advancement in information technology (IT) has led to major transformations in the way organizations operate, forcing them to invest in IT infrastructure so as to keep pace with competition and to retain Sustainability. The present paper approaches IT benefits in innovation process of SMEs, grouping them in three major categories: strategic, tactical and operational benefits. In the last section we present the results of preliminary study on IT benefits in SME’s from Romania and following research directions.

12. THE ROLE OF BONDING, BRIDGING AND LINKING SOCIAL CAPITAL IN LIFE SATISFACTION A CASE OF MIGRANTS IN SPAIN

Authors: AMPARO MASET-LLAUDES , ILUMINADA FUERTES

Abstract: This paper approaches the relation between social capital and subjective well-being from a migration perspective. This analysis is based on three types of social capital, and examines their relationship with the individual’s perceived life satisfaction. The existence or absence of social networks as well as the nature of ties are considered key factors in the success or failure of an immigrant’s life project. The empirical study results suggest that bonding, bridging and linking social capital are significantly related to the perceived life satisfaction. That is, immigrants' life satisfaction is associated with the structure of their social capital

13. PANEL DATA PPML APPROACH TO THE GRAVITY MODEL THE CASE OF VISEGRAD COUNTRIES EXPORT

Authors: BARTOSZ WITKOWSKI , BARTOSZ WITKOWSKI , KATARZYNA SLEDZIEWSKA

Abstract: The paper presents the use of the augmented gravity model for panel data. Silva and Tenreyro (2006) showed that the formerly used Hausman-Taylor estimator fails to provide consistent estimates in this class of models. They propose the use of Poisson pseudo maximum likelihood (PPML) approach, that consists in solving a set of first order condition equations that stem from the Poisson regression model but are applied to attain estimates in the log-linear regression. We expand their results by including random country effects in the model, which allows for the more efficient use of country-level panel data. We use the above described model to estimate the effects of a couple of factors on the value of exports of the group of Visegrad countries (V-4, Visegrad four). These include the EU accession and the recent economic crisis, as well as other countries’ characteristics typically included in the gravity models. We allow for structural breaks and check whether the moment of joining the EU

Authors: A. MASET-LLAUDES , I. FUERTES , J. D. CABEDO , J.M. TIRADO

Abstract: Measuring outputs, outcomes and impacts are a major challenge for nonprofits. How can donors and investors know whether they are helping or undermining the development towards a healthy and sustainable society and environment? Nonprofits have developed a wide range of approaches, tools and methods to measure their social impact. An overview of them, underlining their advantages and drawbacks, is showed in this paper in order to identify those which better disclose social performance. In addition, a twotier disclosure framework (low and upper) is proposed along with disclosure of segment reporting.

15. CORPORATE GOVERNANCE CONVERGENCE AND SUSTAINABILITY

Authors: DANIELA M. SALVIONI , FRANCESCA GENNARI , SIMONA FRANZONI

Abstract: The globalization of markets and information has determined the search for convergence between the systems of corporate governance, especially with reference to listed companies. Particularly, the growing integration of financial markets seems to be a key factor of convergence of corporate governance systems. In the last quarter century, the convergence has been promoted by regulatory and selfregulatory actions directed to the spread of best practices of corporate governance. A host of regulation, standards, recommendations, programmes and much more have emerged; from OECD Principles of Corporate Governance (1999, 2004, 2015) to the UN Guidance on Good Practices in Corporate Governance Disclosure. These initiatives are undoubtedly necessary and useful, but they seem to promote a so-called ‘de jure’ convergence rather than a substantial or ‘de facto’ convergence. Governance practices vary not only across countries but also across firms and their spirit of governance. The main question w

16. NETWORKING AND FACEWORK AS POLITICAL BEHAVIOR WITHIN ORGANIZATIONS

Authors: TAKUMA KIMURA

Abstract: In recent organizational studies, attention to organizational politics and political behavior has been increasing. This study explored the process of political behaviors within organizations using qualitative research of a sample of workers in Japanese firms. Through grounded theory approach, this study identified three constructs of political behaviors: (a) political use of non-political interpersonal networks, (b) leveraging social capital, and (c) other-face-saving behaviors. This study revealed the process of networking and the political use of interpersonal networks, which previous studies on political behaviors have not sufficiently investigated. Moreover, the results of this study can integrate the literature on political behavior and that of facework, which few prior studies have examined in the context of organizational politics.

17. THE INFLUENCE OF BIG DATA IN THE PRACTICES OF STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE PROFESSIONALS IN BRAZIL

Authors: ANA CRISTINA FACHINELLI , PRISCILA NESELLO

Abstract: Strategic use of information is at the core of intelligence activity whose focus has been largely directed to the use of technology for data analysis. However, in practice the human factor still remains decisive for the correct and incorrect interpretation of data. In this article we present the outcome of a study on how the big data phenomenon is perceived and influences the activities of strategic intelligence (SI) professionals in Brazil. We used both the social constructionist research and the content analysis methods to analyzed in-depth interviews with strategic intelligence experts in Brazil. The results indicate that intelligence analysis is not as yet directly benefiting from the big data phenomenon. If on one side big data favours data collection, on the other it hinders the command of the subject. The study also showed that, for some interviewees big data is already integrated into the more elaborate professional practices and in the development of specific projects. However

Authors: ABDELWAHED ALAOUI MDAGHRI , SABRIA KORICHI

Abstract: Family businesses represent the predominant form of business in the world and by their complexity and heterogeneity emerge as a legitimate field of inquiry and have a worldwide scientific attention. The side of Morocco since the mid 70s, the activity of the Moroccan family businesses suffered numerous and profound changes, triggered mainly by the political-economic logic of spontaneous and mandatory Moroccanization and lesser degree of privatization with a view voluntary or advised release and integration into the global economy. The literature on this genesis remain quite mixed, by this report, we seek to rebuild the emergence of Moroccan family entrepreneurship.

Authors: AINARA LARRONDO , IRATI AGIRREAZKUENAGA , KOLDOBIKA MESO

Abstract: In an uncertain environment for media companies, we believe that one of the key elements for their future is to develop strategies to fully-engage the audience, gain their trust and their participation in journalistic goods. Along with this, it seems desirable to set up transgressors models in which journalism is conceived not as a business but as a service to the community. The phenomenon of the crowdfunding can be highlighted here, in which citizens fund media formulas through micro donations at the time they claim a type of journalism that will act as an organic public service, free of economic and political interests. Very likely it is the critical audience who can better capture and release a new public journalistic culture. The fans that enable the publication of new media through donations also represent their own subcultures, habits and practices based on the relationship they built with the media and their texts. Once identified some of these most successful approaches in Spai

Despi te the exi s t enc e o f several risk assessment methodologies that can be used by internal auditors to help identify fraud risks, these methodologies provide little guidance for internal auditors who are grappling with their perceived role in fraud risk management. The purpose of the research under taken for this study was to provide a conceptual framework outlining the various fraud risk assessment methodologies that may be used by internal auditors to detect financial statement fraud. The two main st rategies ident i fied in the l i terature review for recognising the r isk of fraud are the ident i ficat ion of red flags and the assessment of fraud r isk. Authors: PAVEL ZIARAN , RADIM KUCERA , VIT JANIS

Abstract: Objective of the article is to analyze the capacity of economic games dictator and ultimatum to predict ethical behavioral tendencies in the managerial context. The research has been carried out on the basis of the in-class behavioral experiment, using the principles of Gepard (Generator of Economic Behavior in Pedagogic Activities for Research and Development). There were 157 participants; under-graduate students of business. A structural equation model (SEM) was used to test the predictors, which is suitable for non-parametric variables. A three-dimension graphical analysis was used for illustrative reasons. Results show that the combination of both games, dictator and ultimatum, works as a good predictor of the ethical decision-making in the managerial context. The results can find a wide application in the field of HR management, especially recruitment; however a further research is needed.

Abstract: A strong, sturdy and stable banking system is a basic condition for how the engine of the economy of a country works, and thus to support sustainable economic growth. In theory, the Basel Accords I, II and III aim to achieve these characteristics of strength, endurance and stability for the financial system. However, in the light of the financial crisis of the past 20 years, there are doubts about the effectiveness that the Basel agreements had to support banks during financial storms over the years of its implementation.

Abstract: The paper has the aim of reflect on the current situation of the Lake Chad Basin, characterized by the increasing Humanitarian Situation , determined not more only from the water crisis, but from the progressive presence of terrorist militias of the fundamentalist group Boko Haram. Indeed, today, environmental and social degradation of forests, increasingly advanced, the increasing salinization of soils, the proliferation of aquatic vegetation, the high concentration of population around the lake and wetlands exacerbate exploitation of resources and stir up the anarchist social conflicts. Scholars therefore speak of climate refugees, who face not only climate change, but also international terrorism .
